From Arabia to across the Sahara and on into Africa, the country is dotted with tombs shaped like stone circles. Most always have the same pattern: A thick cairn, with the grave in the center, then a circle around it and in the circular path or just outside of it a significantly smaller cairn.

Oddly enough, this pattern is found in circles of many different cultures around the world. Did the people who lived here in prehistoric times perhaps want to leave us a message with these structures that we do not understand?

Divided stone circles

On the Arabian Peninsula there are also many stone circles divided into two, four, or even more sectors. It would be interesting to know if this was for practical use, or for religious reasons, or just for beauty.
