Pendants are cairns with a thin line extending from them, making them look like pendulums on a string or chain. It is found throughout the western part of the Arabian Peninsula in a wide strip from north to south.
In Yemen, however, her appearance differs significantly from that of her brothers further north. While there the cord-like line extensions mainly follow the topography of the landscape and are therefore mostly curved in very different ways, in Yemen we mostly only see absolutely straight lines, which make the pendant look more like a needle.
In the west of Yemen, the pendants often form large groups whose "tails" all point in the same direction. This makes them look like a squadron of needles, all flying in a row in the same direction. Individual pendants can be found in the Hadramaut region in the east of Yemen.
