Almallutx is one of the most mysterious cases in Mallorcan archaeology. Here, on the slope of a mountain, the remains of two settlements and three sanctuaries were found. Their history dates from the 7th century BC to the time of the Roman conquest. Findings indicate that this may have been the religious centre of the entire island of Mallorca for many centuries.

Although there is a small footpath, the area is mostly inaccessible because it is flooded by the "Gorg Blau" reservoir. From the Sóller-Lluc road that passes the reservoir, the most you can see through the zoom lens is a few pillars sticking out of the water on the other side of the lake. In years of water scarcity, when the level of the lake drops, access is difficult but possible.

Many legends surround this mysterious place. Among other things, the Mallorcan Romeo and Juliet. During excavations, the skeletons of a man and a young woman were found side by side. He had his right hand clenched on his chest at heart level and his left hand between his legs. Her right hand was over her mouth as if she were crying. Had a prehistoric drama taken place here, in the midst of the mountains of Mallorca?

The location of this sanctuary is probably no coincidence. To this day, this area, surrounded by the highest peaks of Mallorca, with its iron ore-bearing rock, is known for its strong magnetism. The people of this early period were perhaps more sensitive than we are to the energies of their surroundings, and chose this site carefully as the location for their religious centre.
