The cultural cradle of Europe.

The region between the Mediterranean and the Euphrates is one of the oldest cultural regions we know. This is where the first known empires, agriculture and our writing originated, and it was certainly no less densely populated in prehistoric times. Of the countless archaeological artefacts that can be found here, I have selected desert kites and the strange ‘wheels’, which are easy to recognise from the air with their unusual shapes.
